New Food Allergen Terminologies
WHAT ARE THE CHANGES?
Meals with allergens will no longer be labelled with abbreviations or symbolised icons, such as GF (Gluten Free), or DF (Dairy Free). These will be replaced with full wordings:
Made Without Gluten
Made Without Dairy
WHY?
We have updated how we declare which allergens are present in our meals to align with the new allergen labelling rules from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and to better guide you in making safe and informed choices when choosing your meals.
It is important to note that our meals are prepared in a kitchen that handles a diverse range of allergens, including gluten, wheat, milk/dairy, egg, soy, fish, shellfish*, treenuts*, peanuts, sesame, sulphites, and lupin. Products from our suppliers may also be manufactured in facilities where allergen-containing ingredients are present.
We have a comprehensive allergen management plan in place and while we take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee our dishes are 100% free from trace amounts of allergens.
*Shellfish includes all mollusc and crustacean. Tree Nuts include, but is not limited to, common Tree Nuts like almond, Brazil nut, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia, pecan, pistachio, walnut, and pine nut.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU?
Our Saints kitchen team will continue to ensure all dietary requirements are safely catered for, to the best of our abilities.
During meal service:
Check out the new menu labels to see what meals are suitable for your dietary needs.
Continue communicating with the servery team of your food allergens during every meal service. This includes food items in the cold servery – ask the team if you are unsure what breakfast or sides/salads are suitable for you.
If you are unsure of what to have, or have any questions about the meals, do not hesitate to ask one of our staff!
We take food allergies seriously and will do our best to ensure all dietary requirements are accommodated.
